The iOS keyboard is the one piece of input thingamabob (to use the technical term) you probably use the most. Knowing and using a few shortcuts is therefore not a bad idea. There are plenty, and a veritable multitude of tips and tricks on top of that.
For me, there are still only really two absolutely essential must-knows. The first one you will find in the Settings App, under ‘General -> Keyboards’, and is the simple toggle ‘”.” Shortcut’. Switch it on, and from now on, whenever you want to type a period, just hit the spacebar twice.
The other one is a shortcut that lets you quickly type any other punctuation or numerical character without having to switch fully to the numerical keyboard. Check the image: When you need let’s say a comma, just hit, without lifting your finger, the ‘123’ key, then (still while holding your finger down) slide your finger over to the glyph you need, then let go. Boom – your punctuation or numerical character is inserted and the keyboard automatically reverts to the alphabetical one to let you continue writing.
